Now the hosts of Discovery Channel's "MythBusters" can add a new problem to their list of experiements that found a solution. How do you think, can a 30-pound cannonball blast the wall, two homes and a minivan? Yes, it can. Though this "myth" hasn’t been planned.

A cannonball fired by a "MythBusters" crew at the Alameda County bomb to test whether other types of projectiles shot from a cannon would pick up the same speed and have the same impact as the streel ball took a few unfortunate bounces.

In this particular experiment, the projectile was intended to go through several barrels of water and a cinder block wall before striking the hills of the bomb range. However, the cannonball missed its target. Traveling at a speed of 1,000 feet (300 m) per second, the cannonball flew 700 yards (640 m) into a home where a couple was sleeping, bounced across a road, onto a roof and, finally, crashed into the window of a minivan. Luckily, people who were at home and the owner of the minivan who left his car a few minutes before the accident weren’t injured.

Do you have an old LCD monitor at home? You can turn it into a "spy" monitor. While everybody sees it as a monitor with white screen, you will have special "magic" glasses to make it work. Here is an instruction on how to make a privacy monitor out of an LCD monitor.

You’ll need an LCD monitor, old glasses (disposable 3D glasses or sunglasses are fine), paper cutter, screwdriver, paper towels, superglue and paint thinner.

Step 1. LCD Monitor
Find an old monitor to work with.

Unscrew all the screws on the back of it to remove the plastic frame.

Step 2. Cutting a Polarizing Film

Most LCD monitors’ glass is covered with two films, a polarized one to filter out the light you are not supposed to see, and a frosted anti-glare film. We don’t need the anti-glare film. We’ll use the polarized film only for our glasses.
Grab your cutting knife and cut the films along the edge. Don’t be afraid to press hard. The metal will not scratch the glass unless it’s covered with sand or other abrasives.

Recommendations: The coverage of some monitors is not bonded. Sometimes you can just remove the protective metal edge of the matrix and get the films without cutting them out.

Then, start peeling. Make sure to save the polarized film, also remember the orientation.

Step 3. Clean the Film Adhesive

Once you have removed the films, the glue has likely remained stuck to the glass. Here comes the messy part. Use solvent to soften the glue and wipe it off with paper towels.

Try to cover the screen with paper towels soaked in paint thinner. Or use a piece of wood or plastic to scrape off the soft glue.

Be careful not to get paint thinner on the plastic frame, because it will dissolve it.

Step 4. Your Monitor Is Ready

After cleaning the adhesive, assemble everything back the way it was. Before even making the glasses, you can test the monitor with the polarized film.

Step 5. Pop the Lenses out

Whatever glasses you are using, pop the lenses out of them or take your glasses apart if it is possible.

Step 6. Scan, Trace, Cut

If you are going to use a cnc blade or laser cutter, scan and trace the parts.

These frames were scanned so that they could be used as a reference for the lens orientation. Remember, this is a polarized film so the angle is critical. Back and front also matters.

You can also tape the old lenses on the film and then cut them out with an x-acto knife.

Step 7. Reassemble Glasses

It’s time to assemble the glasses. Are you ready for some fun?

People might think you are crazy as they see you staring at a blank white screen and wearing sunglasses.

This place looks like heaven. It is the Blue Lagoon located in the Reykjanes peninsula in Iceland. It’s the world’s only point where a deep sea ridge is coming onto the shore. The Blue Lagoon is an amazing geothermal spa that attracts millions of tourists from all over the world.
The Blue Lagoon is located 13km (8 miles) from Keflavik Airport and 39km (24 miles) from Reykjavik.

The steamy waters are part of a lava formation. The water temperature averages 37-39 degrees C (98-102 F).

The water is used to run turbines that generate electricity. It goes through the turbine, passes through a heat exchanger and then is fed into the lagoon.

This resort offers geothermal steam bath, sauna, waterfall, relaxing and massage areas, bar, and other facilities.

The Blue Lagoon has two steam baths. One is a cave-like structure, built from lava rocks with benches and soft lighting that imitates an open fire. The other steam bath has white walls that resemble white silica mud and offers a view of the lagoon. The geothermal steam baths are around 45 degrees C (113 F).

The warm water and natural active ingredients of silica, salts, and blue green algae will help you relax.

Incredible Pillar Island

Staffa, a name for pillar island, is an island of the Inner Hebrides in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The Vikings gave it this name as its columnar basalt reminded them of their houses, which were built from vertically placed tree-logs. The island is entirely of volcanic origin. It lies about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) west of the Isle of Mull. The area is 33 hectares (0.13 sq mi).

Many famous personalities visited the island after it was discovered by Sir Joseph Banks in the 18 th century. He was fascinated by the natural beauty of the basalt columns and its main sea cavern, which Banks re-named 'Fingal's Cave'. Among the prominent people who visited the island were Queen Victoria and Felix Mendelssohn, who later brought further fame to the island by writing the island very beautiful and gave a name to its main sea cavern during the 18th and 19th centuries. The island came to prominence in the late 18th century after a visit by Hebrides Overture opus 26.

Only one family lived there in the 18th century, but deserted the island because of severere winter storms. The island has been uninhabited for 2 centuries now.
Staffa had several owners and eventually was gifted by an American owner Jock Elliot Jr. of New York in 1986 to the National Trust for Scotland.
The interesting faxct is that in 1800 there were three Red Deer on the island, later replaced by goats and then a small herd of black cattle. Subsequently the summer grazing was used for sheep by crofters from Iona but in 1997 all livestock was removed. This has led to a regeneration of the island's vegetation.

You can visit the island and view its caves and the puffins by boat from Oban, Dervaig on Mull, Fionnphort and Iona allow between May and September.
There is a landing place used by the tourist boats just north of Am Buachaille, but disembarkation is only possible in calm conditions. The island lacks a genuine anchorage.

Industrialization began to decline, the segregation of the population became more pronounced. In 1967, social tensions resulted in the strongest urban riot in American history. People began to leave the city en masse, leaving the whole city districts empty. Old buildings in downtown were deserted, and within 50 years, Detroit has lost more half of its population.

Being the industrial capital of the twentieth century, Detroit has played a fundamental role in shaping the modern world, and now has become a real ghost town. Ruins are a natural part of the urban landscape.

A Shelter for Retired Prostitutes in Mexico

Founded in 2007, this House of the Beautiful Flowers has now become a home for 23 elderly retired prostitutes. It is located in Tepito, Mexico, and it’s named after Casa Xochiquetzal, Aztec goddess of love and women.
The idea of creating such a retirement center belongs to former prostitute Carmen Munoz. She was shocked seeing her old “colleagues” sleeping in the streets. She spent years trying to convince the government to support her idea, and she finally was given an old 18th century house that is now transformed into a retirement home run by the government that can accommodate 45 former sex workers who should be at least 60 years old.
The story of these women was a part of a documentary created by CNN. It shows that no matter how difficult the life of these prostitutes is, as they have no home, and their children barely visit them in the House of the Beautiful Flowers, they continue to live and even smile.

It is destined for a clean coal power plant, and one company needed it to be moved from South Carolina to North Carolina without destroying the roads. The decision was found. This generator was loaded on a 300-feet-long trailer that had 36 rows of axles and 288 tires. And it was pulled and pushed by five heavy duty road tractors.
